Advice about Clinical Supervision
You will receive 10 hours group clinical supervision during the training. Part 1 - 2 hrs, Part 2 - 4 hrs Remote and Part 4 - 4hrs Remote.
Once you complete the course you can call and advertise yourself as an EMDR therapist. You do not have to seek additional supervision during the training, however many clinicians find this suitable. This can be in the form of peer supervision, local supervision groups or an EMDR consultant (a qualified EMDR clinical supervisor). EMDR Europe Accredited Consultants can be found via this link: https://emdrassociation.org.uk/find-a-therapist/
After becoming an EMDR therapist you do not have to become an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, however, this is a path we highly recommend. If provides a framework for further development, allows you to advance to the other levels of EMDR competency and allows you to be listed on the EMDR Association 'Find a Therapist' website feature. If you want to pursue this after your basic training you will need to find an EMDR Consultant to discuss this further.
On our Find a Supervisor button, you may also be able to connect with an EMDR Consultant or build up peer supervision with fellow trainees. This will help support you on your journey of using EMDR regularly in your practice.
Please see further guidance below regarding EMDR specialist supervision following the basic training issued by the EMDR Association of UK and Ireland. A pdf of this document can also be found in the Association folder of the clinical tools section of this website.
